Excerpt from 10th edition "The
Encyclopedia of Living Artists"
"Self-trained, Louis has utilized
a background in plastics engineering to develop a library of over 2000
colors. These colors, produced from refined oil combined with painting
on plastic, enable him to achieve a superior blending surface. These are
used in harmony with an ongoing exploration of a painting perspective which
he calls "Dimensionalism", in which the main characteristic is to make
the piece appear more three-dimensional. In doing so, he paints three-dimensional
abstract forms, placing them within the boundaries of realism, yet remaining
abstract in essence. His style has become highly recognizable and this
combined with the technical aspects make his work truly unique in both
color and form. "If The Walls Could Dance" and "Room
with a View" are part of a new body of work which was inspired by five
years of living in Wisconsin and walking in the silence of star filled
nights. These memories are kept within him
and continue to be a guiding force."
